ABOUT KRYSTYNA FULFORD

I'm Krystyna and I was born in High Wycombe (UK) in 1995 as the youngest of three children.

I developed a love of creative writing from a young age and was often seen with a notebook and pen, both in school and out! My English teachers helped to nurture my love for books and writing, and I was given the opportunity at school to go on a writing retreat to Arvon. This gave me the confidence boost I needed to actively pursue my interest in writing.

In 2011, I entered, and won, a competition for The Times Young Writer that was run to celebrate the stage performance of Goodnight Mr. Tom. My piece was a short story about my Babcia's (Polish grandmother's) experience as a child in WWII after her family, who had Cossack blood, was being forced to a Siberian labour camp.

In 2013 I started my archaeology studies at the University of Sheffield. During my time there, I got the chance to participate on digs, including working on a medieval mass burial site in North Lincolnshire.  A lot of my writing is influenced by the things that I learned during this degree!

Upon graduating, I undertook a PGCE at Sheffield Hallam University and became a qualified secondary teacher in 2017. Over my teacher career, I taught history, geography and psychology.

In 2023 I left teaching to run my own cosy cafe outside Sheffield and to focus on my true passion of cakes, tea and writing.

My debut novel, The Eighth Sin, was published in August 2024. I intend to publish three more books (including the next installment of The Eighth Sin) in 2025.
